12 Reported Shot at DC Navy Yard

Monday, Sept. 16–A Navy official said that 12 persons have been shot at the Washington, DC Navy Yard, with four dead and eight wounded, according to NBC News. There are no details at this time (10:30 am) on the person or persons who fired the shots. The shooting began about 8:20 am. At least two law  enforcement officials  are reported among the wounded. Seven DC schools were placed on lockdown after the shooting.  

Update at 12:50 pm–Six have been reported dead as a result of the shootings at the Washington, DC Navy yard this morning. One shooter is reported deceased and two others, reportedly in military-style uniforms, are being sought.

Update at 2:30 pm–The death toll at the Washington DC Navy Yard shooting is now 12, with several injured. The shooter, also deceased, has been identified as a 34-year-old man from Texas.  Others are still being sought in the shooting rampage in the nation's capital.

Update at 4:30 pm–The death toll is now 13, including the alleged shooter, in the rampage that began early today at the Washington DC Navy Yard. The shooter was employed as a civilian contractor at the Navy Yard. No motive has been confirmed at this time. More on this story as information becomes available.
