Backlog of Veterans' Disability Claims Reduced 44% From A Year Ago

The backlog of pending disability compensation claims for veterans has been reduced by 44 percent in the last year, from a peak of 611,000 in March, 2013, to 344,000 today, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Hopefully, this trend will continue as the VA works to improve the accuracy of the decisions being made on veterans' claims.

Nobody said this task would be easy, but the lengthy waiting time for the VA to make a decision on these claims was nothing less than shameful — and our veterans deserve better.  According to the VA, the current waiting time for a decision is on average 119 days less than it was this time last year.

We will keep you posted.
