Betty Canderan was the recipient of the Annual Rudy Callender Award Thursday, October 10 at the Rudy Callender Day Luncheon & Award Ceremony. More than 100 area residents were on hand for the event at The Middle Township Senior Center in Cape May Court House.
Canderan has a long history of community involvement, including devotion to the local AARP chapter, where she serves as vice president, participation in peace vigils in Cape May County and elsewhere, and a host of other activities that have benefited the community over time.
As Minnie Callender said in making the award announcement, "Betty represents all of the ideals that Rudy embraced in his activities over the years — volunteerism, community service and the betterment of the community."
Many area officials were on hand for the annual event. State Sen. Jeff Van Drew and State Assemblyman Bob Andrzejczak participated in the award presentation to Mrs. Canderan.
