I Don’t Recognize This Country Anymore

Trump ‘Interview’ at National Football Championship Game

I have lived more than three-quarters of a century and I remember well the McCarthy era and the impeachment and resignation of Richard Nixon. But I’ve never encountered anyone more dangerous than Donald Trump and what he has done in a comparatively short time as president of the United States.

He has managed to capture (there’s no other word for it) a large segment of the voting public and the Republican Party and its members. He has made politicians feel vulnerable to his attacks (as well as anyone else who differs with his opinions and/or programs) and, because they are politicians and fearful of losing their positions, they have bowed to his will.

In my opinion, we will all suffer the consequences of his actions domestically and elsewhere in the world, where he is generally perceived as both a clown and dangerous, unless we act to counter his actions.

Whether you are religious or not, this is a good time to pray for the safety and salvation of this country before Donald Trump changes it so much that it is no longer recognizable as the country that you and I grew up in.
