It's not often one has the opportunity to wish thousands of people a "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year" in so public a way. It's a bit daunting, but the more I think about it the more I realize that there are many things we have to be thankful for. We are almost out of wars; we survived a government shutdown; the economy is picking up, slowly but surely; politicians are still saying crazy and, at times, untruthful things, but fewer people are paying attention to them; and there is still a lot of love being expressed by friends and neighbors at this very special time of year.
I would like to thank everyone who has been so helpful and encouraging to this new enterprise. It has been challenging, but I cannot think of a more rewarding way to engage my readers and the community at large than to provide a variety of points of view for your consideration. The rest is up to you.
