Renovations to the Main Library on Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House are expected to take about nine months and involve a certain amount of inconvenience for users. For the most part, however, it is expected to be open during the entire renovation process.
In addition to repairs to the roof, front steps and columns, the renovations will include a reading room addition and expanded facilities for teens and the Technology Learning Center.
The library will remain open during regular hours most of the time, however the front entrance will close on Monday, November 2. After that you can enter the building at side entrances, which will be marked with signs. The book drop is now available in the parking lot behind the library building, next to the loading dock.
There will be no handicapped entrance during renovations to the front of the building. However, all of the other county library locations are handicapped accessible.
Parking will be more difficult during renovations due to the many construction vehicles and equipment that will be used for the work. Evenings and weekends will be less congested and offer the best parking opportunities.
