When you are the editor of a publication you often put information aside for use later. The following list to consider is in that category and the “headline” is “Something To Think About Before You Make Contributions.” The information is dated, so keep that in mind.
At the time I received this information, the salary of the president and CEO of The American Red Cross was $651,957, plus expenses.
The president of The United Way was receiving $375,000 plus expenses.
The CEO of UNICEF was receiving $1,200,000 plus expenses.
And, according to this list, the March of Dimes is called the March of Dimes because only a dime for every $1 donated is given to the needy.
On the other hand, the head of the following organizations receives no salary and your donations go directly to help veterans, their families and youth:
American Legion National Commander, National Commander of Foreign Wars, American Veterans National Commander, Purple Hearts National Commander and The Vietnam Veterans Association National Commander.
Other organizations that use 100% of donations for charitable purposes include Ronald McDonald Houses, St. Jude Research Hospital, Make A Wish (for children’s last wishes) and Lions Club International.
