The South Jersey Jazz Society was created in 2004 when it began sponsoring an annual jazz festival, originally spearheaded by the Foundation for Education to raise funds for such an event. The Society and its schedule of events has consistently grown since then and jazz lovers can now listen to the music they love at various venues throughout the year. More than 30 events have been planned for 2017.
The South Jersey Jazz Society has donated more than $30,000 to help support local music and art programs in Somers Point and Ocean City public schools. Various workshops are provided during the year where students can work with professional jazz musicians. Free admission to the Society's events is offered to high school and college students throughout the year.
