Of all of the stupid statements made by Donald Trump, and there are many to choose from, the most outrageous in my opinion is to call those who served and/or died for this country “losers and suckers.”
It’s important to remember that Trump did not serve because his doctor lied, at Trump’s request, about so-called “bone spurs” in Trump’s feet. Trump’s father emigrated from Germany to avoid serving in the army there — so Donald had a good model to imitate.
It is the ultimate insult to call those who served “losers” or “suckers” when you are too cowardly to serve your country — and to insult the memory of John McCain after his death is, in my judgment, beyond reproach.
As a general (whose name I cannot remember at the moment) said, “I won my spurs on the battlefield and Trump got his in a doctor’s office.” I can’t say it any better than that!
