Watching the day-to-day machinations of the White House and the Congress as the impeachment of the president plays out, I feel like I’m watching the Nixon saga all over again. It wasn’t pretty then and it certainly isn’t pretty now!

No matter which side you’re on, you have to feel sad that this great nation is embroiled in a battle that will tear the fabric of our democracy —- and leave us feeling less secure in determining who and what we are going forward.

There is much to be said on this issue, but we will never begin to convince those who don’t agree with us that “our side” is the right one.

However, I can tell you that in my travels around the world the one question that I was always asked — no matter where I happened to be — was always “What are the Americans thinking?”

You might also ask what is everyone else in the world asking these days?

I don’t know the answer to those questions. Do you?
